Silhouettes and Sunsets

These nails are inspired by finally being on summer vacation! It's been a long year, but now it's finally here! So in honor of summer vacation arriving, I thought it was fitting to do these classic black palm tree over sunset backdrop nails.

To make the backdrop, I used Sally Hansen Vigorous Violet (Purple), Wet n Wild Lavender Pearlescent (Pink), Sinful Colors Cloud 9 (Orange), and Sinful Colors Let's Meet (Yellow). I was originally going to do a gradient effect with the four colors, but I decided it would be easier to just draw them on like stripes. I purposely didn't try to make them straight so that they would blend better, however I think that the only colors that actually blended well together using this method were Cloud 9 and Let's Meet. Going on, I used Sinful Colors Black On Black for the palm trees. I used two different brushes, a thicker ~1 cm long brush for the stripes, and my ultra thin (literally like 5 bristles) brush for the palm trees.

  1. Sunsets are so beautiful, aren't they? I loved this color combo, stunning! First time reading your blog and I'm already a fan and a follower now! x

    1. They are pretty beautiful! Thanks for commenting and following, Caroline! It's very much appreciated. :)
